John Wilson Connell Jr.

John Wilson Connell, Jr., of Indian Springs, passed away on June 22, 2016, at age 90. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Wilson Connell and Virgie Robertson Connell. A life-long resident of the Birmingham area, he was a graduate of Acipco Grammar School, Phillips High School and the University of Alabama. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps as aerial gunner during WWII and again in the Korean War; and served in the US Army with rank of 1st Lieutenant in Korea and Japan. He retired from the Army Reserve with rank of Major.

He retired from State Farm Insurance Company in 1988 as Claims Superintendent with 34 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elaine; two sons Dr. Keith Connell, Muscle Shoals, AL, and Duane Connell, Alabaster, AL; three grandchildren, Claire Elaine Babba, Nolin Wilson Connell, and Lauren Elizabeth Connell. Two brothers, Ralph Connell (Jane) Birmingham, AL and Fred Connell (Elane), Gulf Shores, AL.

Services will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Pelham, on Monday, June 27, 2016, at 1:00 p.m., with visitation at noon. Burial will follow at Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo, at 2:45 p.m.
