John Hobson Tommie, beloved husband and dedicated U.S. Air Force Veteran, passed away peacefully at his home in Pelham, Alabama on February 28, 2025. He was 79, and is now reunited with his cherished wife, Willie, who preceded him in death in December 2024.

John was a devoted father and husband, known for his unwavering love for his family. He spent many years as a Foundryman and was the proud owner of National Steel Castings, where he built a reputation for quality and craftsmanship. His work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit remained in his nature well into retirement.

John proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, and his commitment to service reflected his dedication to his country and the values he held dear throughout his life. He was a man of strength, character, and compassion, and his sense of humor was unmatched.

John is survived by his daughters, Mitzi Belmont and Ashley (Michael) McLure; as well as his grandchildren, Meagan (Brandon) Littleton, Kirstie (Cameron) White, Bradley McLure, Parker McLure, Sophia Fleming, Grant Fleming, Phillip McLure, and Isla McLure. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Owen, Nolan, Layla, Cora, and Charlee; and one sister, Peggy (Allen) Franklin.

John’s memory will live on through his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and all who were fortunate to know him well. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a work ethic that will continue to inspire his family and friends.

John and his beloved Willie’s final resting place will be at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo. Service time and date are to be determined.

Willie Mae Tommie, 79, of Pelham, Alabama passed away Thursday, December 19, 2024. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on March 28, 1945.

Willie Mae graduated from Woodlawn High School. She was employed for several years in the foundry industry, alongside her husband John. Her favorite leisure activities included collecting antiques and home decorating.

Willie Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Julia Mae Houts and William Henry Houts; one brother, Billie Houts; and one sister, Ann Vikery.

Willie Mae is survived by her husband, John Hobson Tommie, whom she married on February 14, 1972; children, Mitzi Belmont, and Ashley McLure (Michael); grandchildren, Meagan Littleton (Brandon), Kirstie White (Cameron), Sophia Fleming, Grant Fleming, and Isla McLure: great-grandchildren, Owen, Nolan, Layla, Cora, and Charlee.
