Johnny R. Self Sr.

Johnny is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn; one son, Johnny Self Jr. (Nicole); one daughter, Angie Denton (Tim); four grandsons, Will Denton (Allie), Luke Denton (Emily), John Denton and Johnny R Self III; two granddaughters, Lacey Denton and Marie Self; a special niece, Carolyn Michelle Smith; and great-grandchildren, Dylan Kaye Denton and Anderson Baker Denton. Johnny is also survived by one brother, Nathaniel Self, and one sister, Orlane Snuggs.

Johnny was the president of Cassady and Self Glass Company for 39 years. He was an active member and former president of the West Homewood Lions Club in the early 1980s. He was an active member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church, Homewood.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 21, 2016 from 1-2 p.m. at Johns-Ridout's Funeral Parlors, 2116 University Blvd., Birmingham, AL 35233, immediately followed by the 2 p.m. funeral service in Johns-Ridout's West Chapel, Birmingham. Dr. Bill Johnson will officiate. The private graveside service will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, AL.
