

After graduation from High Point High School, Joe earned his Associate Degree from Jefferson State Community College in Birmingham and attended Jacksonville Technical College in Jacksonville, Florida. He worked in insurance and financial planning with Southern Life and Health and Primerica before becoming an ordained minister and founding Daily Bread Ministries in 1984. In addition to teaching the Word of God, he enjoyed jogging, camping, and hiking.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Inman Medina and Paul Medina; infant son, James Matthew Medina; and one brother, Theodore Lee Medina. He is survived by his wife, Kay Jones Medina, whom he married on February 15, 1969; one daughter, Melissa (Bryan) Gregg; son, Joseph David (Hayley) Medina; grandchildren, Justin Paul (Shelley) Gregg, Deanna Medina, Mary Kaytlin Gregg, and Abigail Medina; great-grandsons, Apollo Gregg and Micah Gregg; two sisters, Jean Hobbs and Joyce Davis; one brother, James Medina; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama from 10-11 a.m., followed by A Service of Celebration for Joe's Life and Ministry at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124. The gravesite committal service will be at 3 p.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Fischer Community Cemetery, Hawthorne Drive, Fort Payne, AL 35967.
