Joseph Carmine Yost

Joseph Carmine Yost, age 78, passed away Wednesday evening, February 4, 2026. A resident of the Greystone community in Hoover, Alabama, he retired from Hanna Steel Company in 2020 as Executive Vice President of Sales and Purchasing.

Joe was raised in Kennedy Township, Pennsylvania, where he was born April 5, 1947 to the late Joe and Bettye Yost. He attended Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, where he met his wife, Patricia. A four-year letterman in basketball, he was also Commander of the Epsilon Psi Chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity.

Joe's business career began at J&L Steel Company, later LTV Steel, where he served until 2003 when he became part of the Hanna Steel family. He was instrumental in implementing procedures and policies that are currently used at Hanna Steel.

Joe is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Patricia Jane Wright; his children, Allison Kuhlmann (Joel), Brian Yost, and Adam Yost (Suzy); grandchildren, John Kuhlmann, Lauren Kuhlmann, Nevaeh Chaney, Samantha Yost, Ella Yost, and Carter Yost; and three brothers, Dale Yost, Bob Yost, and Jim Yost.

The family will greet friends at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 9-10 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Inurnment will be at the church's columbarium.
