Born in Wiggins, MS January 1, 1943, she was the oldest of three daughters of James and Glennie White. Karen attended Wiggins High School, Perkinston Jr. College, and the University of Southern Mississippi. She worked as an accountant in various businesses. After Hurricane Katrina, Karen and her husband Nick moved to Alabaster, AL to be closer to her daughter and family.
Karen was a loving wife, mother, nana, sister, and friend. She enjoyed many crafting activities such as painting, knitting, beading, and ornament making with her friends and neighbors. Karen never met a stranger and was always interested in meeting new people. Karen and her mother began making Christmas ornaments for the family kids over 30 years ago. These gifts eventually extended to close family friends and their children and became an annual tradition.
Karen will be greatly missed by her husband and favorite dance partner Nick. They could always be spotted on the dance floor at social occasions. They shared 46 years together and were wonderful soul mates.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents James and Glennie White. Karen is survived by her loving husband Nick Cefalu Jr. of Alabaster, AL; her daughter, Candace Edwards (Chad) of Indian Springs Village, AL; her sisters, Colleen Drennan (Frank) of Ridgeland, MS and Carmen Caldwell of Winona, MS; step-daughters, Deborah Montiforte (Kurt) of Biloxi, MS and Cindy Walker (Pete) of Williamsburg, VA; seven grandchildren, Emily Edwards, Kory and Kyle Montiforte, Emma, Nathan, Cameron, and Olivia Walker; two great grandchildren Kooper and Kinsley Montiforte; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends.
