Karen Parker, age 67, of Pelham, AL passed away on January 8, 2019. She was born March 10, 1951 in Birmingham, AL to Herbert and Anna Gilliam.
Karen is survived by her son Donny Glenn (Amy); daughter Jennifer Glenn; sister Judy Linn (Mark); granddaughter, Alexis Glenn; and beloved schnauzer mix, Chico.
She was preceded in passing by her parents, Herbert and Anna Gilliam; her husband Frank Parker; her brother Ronnie Gilliam; and her beloved dogs, Jazzy, Louie, and Zoe.
Karen was a very private and talented woman. She had a passion for making beautiful, hand-crafted Christmas ornaments. For over 20 years, she created many precious ornaments for her close family and friends. Karen worked for over 25 years for EBSCO industries as an administrator. She was also an avid Alabama football fan and enjoyed the beach, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and either a glass of UNsweet tea or Chardonnay. Karen also had a love for animals, particularly her dogs that served as her closest companions. She was a loving mother, sister, and MiMi who will be deeply missed.
A visitation for Karen will be held Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL. Celebration of Life service will follow at 2:00 PM. Burial at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Birmingham Humane Society or an animal shelter of your choosing in memory of Karen.
