

Karen Corbell Thom, age 71, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024. Born on January 20, 1953, Karen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Karen was a founding member of Hunter Street Baptist Church, where she found joy and fulfillment in her faith and community. She was a woman of many passions, most notably her love for reading on the porch, spending time at the beach, and her deep affection for her grandchildren. Karen’s warm heart also extended to her beloved dog, Peppa, who was a constant companion.
Karen was married to George Thom Jr. on September 9, 2009, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Karen is survived by her husband, George Thom Jr.; her children, Jennifer (Chris) Mobarak and Christopher (Courtney) Serio; her stepchildren, Jennifer (Joseph) Edgell and J. Cody (Kimberly) Thom; her sister, Kathy Cramer, and her brother, Terry Corbell; and her grandchildren, Mason, Owen, Marisa, Maddox, Emma Kate, Jacob, Emily, and James.
A visitation will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home & Cemetery on January 2, 2025, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of life service to honor Karen’s memory. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating Karen’s life and the lasting impact she had on all who knew her.
She will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering love for her family, and her generous spirit.
