Dear Dr. Ballard and family, I am saddened today to learn of the passing of your precious daughter. What a beautiful young lady and a true fighter to all who knew her. She has left an incredible legacy and an example of a strong faith in her Lord. I will keep you all in my prayers for peace and comfort.

Buddy, Shirley and Russ I want to let you know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers. I remember Katey from our time at Valleydale Baptist Church and Russ and Bill playing baseball together. Katey was a very strong young lady and will be missed greatly. God has truly gained himself another angle. She acomplished a lot in her short life and has helped and inspired many. May God be with you all during this time and always.

Dear Shirley buddy Russ and Eric. Nothing i say can ease your pain and heartache. Katey did not loose her battle with cf she won the battle! No matter what came her way she never let cf take the smile from her face. She faced cf with such grace and fortitude. Katey was not special because she had cf. she was special because of the way she chose to deal with her cf. I think you can choose for your adversities in this life to make you a bitter person or a better person. Many people will be in heaven because of Kateys testimony in Christ. She chose to be a better person instead of a bitter person. I will keep rolling for a cure in the great strides walk in honor of our precious katey. I like to call cystic fibrosis 65 roses. It's so fitting. Think of the rose. The thorn on the rose represents the disease katey was born with. The petals on the rose represent the fragile health of those with cf. the stem on the rose represents the support katey had from her from her family and friends. The way the rose opens and blooms represents katey's beautiful spirit and the beauty that katey has inside and out. The sweet fragrance of the rose represents the sweet cherished memories of katey bug we will always hold in our hearts. Someday, we will be in that city where the roses never fade. With heartfelt love and prayers, Amy Marie carter,

Katey, I will never forget meeting you in 5th grade while we did safety patrol together. We kept all those younger kiddos of HES safe together. It was a joy to watch you grow into an amazing woman of God ever since that time. I rejoice with you as you are in Heaven with Christ and pray for your sweet family in the days, months, and years ahead as they miss you. We shall meet again one day, my friend. Until then, enjoy that new, perfect body!

May your family be wrapped in a blanket of love as you navigate the days ahead and be fortified to endure, as you feel the love of family and friends expressed through their support and prayers in the weeks and months to come.
