Keith was the son of Clyde E. Brashier and Judith (“Judy”) K. Brashier. He grew up in north Shelby County, Alabama and attended Pelham High School. After high school, Keith attended the University of Alabama where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1999. He remained in Tuscaloosa following his graduation and obtained a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2002. Keith began his legal career specializing in criminal defense and family law at Redden, Mills & Clark, LLP. In 2011, Keith joined Laura Susan Burns and Jessica Johnson as the founding partners of Burns, Brashier and Johnson, LLC. Keith’s law firm was his second family and he was loved by everyone at the firm. Keith and Laura Susan shared a special bond both as law partners and as best friends. Keith leaves an indelible mark on the legal community and his death leaves a chasm of emptiness at Burns, Brashier and Johnson.
Keith enjoyed reading and could often be found playfully engaging in political debates with his friends and family, especially his younger brother. His love and passion for debate eventually presented the opportunity to begin coaching pageant contestants. After years of pageant coaching success, he was afforded the opportunity to judge various beauty pageants both locally and nationwide. Keith’s passion for debate was most noticeable when volunteering with the College Choice Foundation where he coached young men and women in the art of navigating interviews as part of the college admissions process.
When Keith had spare time away from his law practice, pageant consulting or volunteer work, he enjoyed watching history and conspiracy theory documentaries. Often in mid-conversation, he would exclaim, “I saw a documentary about that!” Keith possessed a unique ability to convince you that his theories or opinions were factual.
Holidays and family visits were always special to Keith as it provided him time to be “Crazy Uncle Keith” to his nieces and nephews. During family visits, Keith could regularly be found in the street playing basketball, football and volleyball with his nieces and nephews all while instigating debates as to who was the best at each sport. He loved playing board games, cards, Mario Kart or anything else competitive with his nieces and nephews.
Keith lived life with a compassionate heart that focused on making the lives of those around him better. He cared deeply for others. Keith always had the right compliment or words of encouragement at just the right time. He is survived by his partner of 14 years, Warren Bragg Scroggins. Keith is also survived by his siblings, Leigh Brashier Mitchell (Steve) of Hixson, TN, and Craig Hunter Brashier (Kimberly) of McKinney, TX, along with his nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate and honor the life of Keith Brashier will be held Tuesday July 1, 2025, at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a celebration service to follow at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting the College Choice Foundation.
