

Dr. Kwang Soo Ahn passed away peacefully at his home in the presence of his wife and daughter on October 30, 2021 after a 30 year battle with Parkinson's disease. Dr. Ahn was a husband, father, grandfather, church elder, friend, doctor, golfer, painter, and gardener. Most importantly, he was a faithful man of God who shared his love for Jesus Christ with his friends, family, and community.
He was born in Manchuria on November 22, 1940 to Ahn Jong Ho and Lee Jung Kyu, who were expatriates of Korea at the time. Kwang Soo graduated from Kyung Bok High School in Seoul, South Korea, and earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Busan Medical School in 1970. Dr. Ahn served as a
medical doctor in the Vietnam War from 1972 to 1973, and married his wife Kye Ja Ahn on November, 10, 1973 in Junju, South Korea.
Together with his wife, Kwang Soo moved to the United States in 1976 in search of new adventures. Their daughter Bena was born in 1986 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where Dr. Ahn spent 26 years of his career as a physician at Bryce Hospital. Some years after his retirement in 2005, Kwang Soo moved with his family to Birmingham, Alabama, where he would spend and enjoy the rest of his life.
Kwang Soo is survived by his family of wife Kye Ja Ahn of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, daughter Bena Lee, son-in-law Samuel Lee, granddaughter Karis Lee, and grandson Ethan Lee; his sisters Kyung Soo Kim of Las Vegas, Nevada, Myung Soo Ahn of Seoul, South Korea, Eun Soo Ahn of Seoul, South Korea, and Jung Soo Yu of Raleigh, North Carolina. And finally, he leaves behind his beloved dog Rosie.
