

Lambert Wilson Poor, known as “Dub” to friends and family, age 68, passed away on the afternoon of August 12, 2017 at the VA Hospital in Birmingham, Ala. Dub is survived by his wife Teresa Moore Poor, of Pelham, Ala.; his son, Robert Jeffrey Poor, of Tallahassee, Fla.; and his daughter, Amanda Duncan, of Hoover, Ala. Dub is also grandfather to Kaylee Alcorn and John Avery Duncan.
Dub is a veteran of both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. He was born on May 3, 1949 in Brevard, N.C., to parents Thomas Poor and Gertrude Poor. He graduated from Brevard High School in Brevard, N.C. in 1967 and Western Carolina University in 1979 with a master’s degree in business administration. Dub was a cost engineer by trade and was described by his friends as a “great construction mind.” He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, avidly reading, and doing renovations to his house in Pelham, his home of 27 years. His family and friends will always remember him as a loving and generous person.
A funeral is scheduled for 10 am on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Rocky Ridge Presbyterian Church, with burial following at 12:30 pm at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.
