Laura Crandall Wheeler, 67, of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 30, 2019. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on March 30, 1952 to Dr. and Mrs. Homer Lewis Crandall.
Laura was a friend to many and could brighten a room with her contagious laugh and a warm smile. She had an incredible work ethic and retired after a long and faithful career at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama.
Survivors include Laura's son, Wesley Charlton Wheeler of Birmingham; brother, William Hendrix (Dianne) Crandall of Pelham, Alabama; nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Homer Lewis Crandall, Sr. and Mrs. June Covar Crandall; a brother, Homer Lewis Crandall, Jr.; and a sister, Melanie Jeanne Crandall.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, immediately followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, Alabama.
Laura was a lover of dogs, especially her precious dachshund, Speckles. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Greater Birmingham Humane Society.
