LaVerne B. Howell, age 96 of Pelham, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Mrs. Howell was a WWII Navy Veteran, a member of the Bluff Park Eastern Star, and an accomplished classical pianist and teacher.
Mrs. Howell is preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Howell; parents, Olin A. and Effie Bird; and brother, Harry Bird, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Candace Howell; son, Andrew Howell; grandchildren, Tay H. Drescher and Stewart Howell; and great grandchildren.
A graveside service for Mrs. Howell will be at 11am on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Highland Memorial Gardens in Bessemer.
