Leslie Claire Burnett

Nov. 21, 1994 – May 13, 2014

Leslie Claire Burnett passed away quietly early Tuesday morning, May 13, 2014. She is survived by her beloved mother, Leigh Burnett, her beloved father Mark Burnett and her beloved brother, Joseph Burnett. Leslie was the granddaughter of Estelle Murdoch and the late Bryon Lawrence and the late Allen Murdoch. She was the granddaughter of Charlotte and Mickey Massey and the late Marvin Burnett. She leaves behind many beloved aunts, uncles and friends.

Leslie was born in Homewood, AL on November 21, 1994 to Leigh and Mark Burnett. During her childhood Leslie attended Valley Elementary School, Valley Intermediate School, Riverchase Middle School and graduated from Pelham High School in 2013. While at Pelham High School, Leslie was an active participant in the Navy Jr ROTC program and in her senior year she served as the student Commanding Officer for the unit.

Leslie was also an active member of the Birmingham Figure Skating Club and participated in single competitions, dance competitions, and Club shows. Leslie received her highest achievement in figure skating in passing the Senior Moves-In-the-Field test rendering a Gold Medalist for that specialty. At the time of her death Leslie was pursuing her Gold Medal level for Ice Dancing.

Leslie was also an active participant and attendee at Riverchase United Methodist Church.

Leslie was a sophomore at Auburn University in the U.S. Navy ROTC scholarship program for Nursing.

Visitation services will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham on Thursday May 15, 2014 from 6p.m. to 8p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday May 16, 2014 at 2:30p.m. at Riverchase United Methodist Church in Hoover, AL.

Flowers are accepted. Donations to Auburn University and to the American Cancer Society will be encouraged as well.
