She grew up in Gallatin, TN, and graduated from Gallatin High School. She attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she met her future husband. Linda Lee Lassiter was united in holy matrimony with Samuel O. Spruill III in Gallatin, Tennessee on November 5, 1966. The couple lived in Delaware, South Carolina, and Texas, before settling in Alabama.
Linda was the proud mother of two children, Allen and Julia.
She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Helena, Alabama, where she joyfully sang in the choir for many years. She also participated in women’s missionary union and other activities.
She enjoyed taking trips with her family over the years, seeing many places in the United States and Europe. Her love of travel made her a natural to host foreign exchange students. Along with her daughter, Linda hosted many students for yearlong stays as well as shorter term stays. They loved showing off the charms of the South and offering up Southern hospitality. Linda always found time to cheer for her University of Tennessee Volunteers. In recent years, you would find Linda always working on her word search puzzle books.
Linda is survived by her son, Allen Spruill of Nolensville, Tennessee, and her daughter, Julia Peart of Calera, Alabama.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Perry Lassiter and Esther Lassiter of Gallatin, Tennessee, her in-laws Samuel Spruill, Jr and Johnnie Spruill of Jackson, Tennessee, and her husband, Samuel O. Spruill III.
