Logan Jarrett Deen, 32, of Birmingham, Alabama, died peacefully at his home after a noble and lengthy battle with cancer on Saturday, November 12, 2022. Born into a loving and close-knit family in Cocoa, Florida, Logan grew into a wonderful man who delighted in people, loved life, and brought joy wherever he went. He graduated in 2012 from Samford University, where he met his wife, Katherine (Moore) Deen of Louisville, Kentucky.
Logan was an accomplished State Farm agent with a thriving office on Highway 280. He used his insurance agency as a way of caring for people more than looking to grow the bottom line, and the growth of his agency testified to the depths of his empathy and integrity.
Logan loved sports, specifically the Florida Gators, and he loved using sports as an opportunity to gather with those he loved. The two he loved most were his dear wife Katherine, who in their nearly nine years of marriage experienced more joys and sorrows than most amass in 60 years together, and his young son Josiah Logan, who will soon turn one. Josiah brought Logan more joy than their family knew possible and was an answer to countless prayers.
The hole that Logan's passing leaves in the lives of those who love him will be immense; however, those who mourn him do not do so without hope. In addition to being the fine family man and leading business owner, Logan would state the most important thing about him was his faith. He was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a faithful member of The Church at Brook Hills. His robust trust in God, even amidst the deep suffering he faced, strengthened the faith of so many who knew him.
Logan is survived by his wife, Katherine; son, Josiah; his parents, Brenda and Curtis; siblings, Megan (Kathryn) and Spencer (Sabrina); niece, Mariah; nephews, RJ, Noah, and Deen; not to mention the countless extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
The family will be receiving guests at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2022. The funeral service will be at The Church at Brook Hills at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2022, with a graveside service for family and close friends following.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you give to the MD Anderson Cancer Center. Please select “I’d like to choose where my donation will go,” then select “Fund Designated by Family,” and your gift will be designated to gastrointestinal cancer research.
