Lorene T Bates

Lorene T. Bates 88, Montevallo, Al passed away February 12, 2025. She was born to Lussie and Canvis Tidwell on August 15, 1936, in Notasulga, Al. Lorene was a graduate from Macon Co High School in 1954. On March 11th, 1955 she married the love of her life and they ran Bates Green Valley Shell for many, many years. They have two loving daughters together. Lorene is preceded in death by her husband Charles Bates, parents, Lussie and Canvis Tidwell, two brothers Franklin and James Tidwell, and a granddaughter April Jones.

She leaves behind two daughters, Sandra (Robert) Robinson, and Debbie (Shane) Jones; Grandchildren Mandy Sellers, Kevin Sellers, Brandi (Kevin) Burgess, Jamie (Ezekiel) Findley, Cody (Mikah)Jones, great-grandchildren, Jaxson, April, Layne, Landon, Bella, Brent, Charlea, Chloe, Wyatt, and Everleigh, nieces, Wanda (Steve) Ptomey, Shelia Tidwell, and nephew Ken (Debbie) Tidwell, and her best friend Barbara Marston.

We would like to give a special thanks to Brandi and April Burgess for all of the love and care they have shown their granny during this time. We couldn’t have done it without you.

The family will receive friends and family on Monday, February 17th from 1:00-2:00 with a service in her honor in the chapel at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will conclude in the adjoining cemetery.
