Lorraine Bernadette (Mojcik) Cerfolio, 51, of Indian Springs, AL passed away surrounded by loving friends and family, Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the University of Alabama, Birmingham Medical Center after a long illness. She was born in Stratford, CT the daughter of Michael and Theresa Mojcik.
Lorraine graduated from Stratford High School, class of 1979. She went to the University of Connecticut where she graduated with a B.A and R.N. degree in 1983. In 1990, she was united in marriage to Dr. Robert James Cerfolio at St. Emery’s church in Fairfield, CT.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Robert J. Cerfolio of Indian Springs, AL; their three children, Robert, Alec, and Matthew; parents Michael and Theresa Mojcik; sister Karen McNally and her son Tom; brother Dr. Michael Mojcik, his wife Susan and their children Catherine and Mary; Dr. Christopher Mojcik, his wife Robin and their children Daniel, Arla, and Charles.
Lorraine was a devoted wife and mother who lived for her children and family. She enjoyed board games with her family, music and dancing and girls night out. She was a devout and faithful member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Lorraine was an active fund-raiser for the Carrollites, and Our Lady of the Valley B.A.L.L. She leaves behind many close and devoted friends. Lorraine’s life was about more than her accomplishments, it was about the joy she brought to those around her, the beauty that she surrounded herself with, both in her home and in the community, and the generosity she showed to so many.
Visitation at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church will be from 6 pm to 9 pm Monday, April 15th with wake services there to follow. Funeral mass will be on Tuesday April 16th at 2 pm also at our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be sent to John Carroll Catholic High School, Birmingham, AL.
