

Lucius Harold Burris Jr. went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 11, 2016 at the age of 66. He is preceded in death by his father, Harold Burris Sr. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Martha Burris; mother, Mary Adelyne Burris; daughters, Natalie Burris and Courtney (Trip) Malouf; grandsons, Micah (8), Sam (7), and Lucas (2) Malouf; sisters, Betty Heatly and Gloria Curtis; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Lucius recieved an engineering degree from Mississippi State University and a masters in both Business and Engineering from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. After graduating from Mississippi State, he served in the US Army Reserve. He retired with a hard work ethic from The Southern Company after 39 years of dedicated service.
Lucius was a Deacon and Elder at Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham where he worked worshipfully and gratefully with Builders for Christ and the Mercy Ministry. These are just a few examples of his devotion and unwavering commitment to his Christian faith. He loved traveling with his family, playing with his grandsons, working in his yard and around the house, and building just about anything. Lucius was also an avid tennis player. He was a huge Mississippi state fan, where he took his family to many football games.
There will be a visitation at Southern Heritage Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday the 14th with a Celebration of Life service at Briarwood Presbyterian Church on Wednesday the 15th at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Lucius’s name to Briarwood Presbyterian Church.
