Lurlene graduated from Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama. She worked in bookkeeping for Wiscombe Southern Painting and several other companies.
Lurlene was a member of First United Methodist Church of Alabaster. In her leisure, she enjoyed gardening.
Lurlene was preceded in death by her parents, Lucille and Erskine Killingsworth; grandson, Michael Carter; and son-in-law, Ralph Fulton. She is survived by her husband, Gordon L. Garrett, to whom she was married on June 27, 1948; two children, Ann Fulton and Lane Garrett (Gwen); and four grandchildren, Neely Franks (Paul), Laney Beard (Allen), Vicki Garrett (Edward Chauca), and Samantha Garrett.
Lurlene's family will greet friends at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama on Monday, October 23, 2023 from 12-1 p.m., followed by A Service of Remembrance at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama.
