A native and former resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, she was the daughter of Stanton and Beryl Melville. As a pastor's wife, she was her husband's faithful helpmate in founding several Christian ministries in the New Orleans area, including the planting of two new evangelical Bible churches. She and Weldon retired to Hoover, where she has long been a member of Mountain Brook Community Church and a resident of Galleria Woods Retirement Community.
A service celebrating her home-going will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at the chapel of Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The service will be conducted by Rev. Tim KaIlam, pastor of Mountain Brook Community Church, with a private burial at the mausoleum at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham following the service.
