It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Lynn Singleton Hightower, who left us to be with Jesus on May 18, 2024, after a long and beautiful life.
Lynn spent most of her life in Alabama, having grown up in Cullman and Demopolis before eventually settling in Birmingham. She was a devout Christian whose life was full of laughter, giving, and love for others. She attended The University of Alabama Nursing School and Samford University. Lynn spent many decades as a nurse and enjoyed giving her patients the same care and love that she always provided her family. Lynn loved the arts of all kinds, whether it be painting, baking, or playing the piano. Affectionately known as “MamaLynn”, she was happiest when surrounded by family, friends, and her beloved dog, Buddy.
Lynn is survived by five children: Dan Singleton (Allison) of Atlanta, GA, Bob Singleton of Birmingham, Lynn Hightower Moore (Kevin) of Birmingham, Lynda Hightower of Birmingham, and Clay Hightower of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren: Amanda Singleton Lloyd (Chip) of Atlanta, GA, Danielle Singleton Battle (Will) of Atlanta, GA, Caroline Singleton of Birmingham, Brandon Rosso (Stephanie) of Calera, Amanda Rosso Seeds (Peter) of Alabaster, Kaitlin Moore of Birmingham, and Katherine Moore of Birmingham; six great-grandchildren: Josh Loudermilk of Atlanta, GA, Tanner Lloyd of Atlanta, GA, Allie Battle of Atlanta, GA, Paul Battle of Atlanta, GA, Nina Rosso of Calera, and Archer Seeds of Alabaster; two brothers, John Gross of Birmingham, and Jack Gross of Killen; and one sister, June Davidson of Tuscumbia. Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. R.M. Gross, her brother, Merrill Gross, and her husband, Bill Hightower.
To commemorate and celebrate Lynn’s incredible life, a memorial service will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Pelham, AL on Saturday, May 25 at 12pm. Visitation will begin at 11am.
Pall Bearers will include, Brian Davidson, Marshall Davidson, Mark Gross, Will Battle, Chip Lloyd, Peter Seeds, Brandon Rosso, Josh Loudermilk.
