A long-time resident of Birmingham, Alabama, Mable was a member of Canterbury United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Crawford Owen Bible Class as well as the Wednesday Morning Disciple Class. She was preceded in death by her parents, Delaine and Ruth Jenkins, and an infant grandson, Beau Tatum.
Survivors include her husband, Andrew K. Tatum; daughter, Susan Logan (Steve); son, Drew Tatum (Celeste); and six grandchildren, Andrew, Janie Ruth, and Claire Logan, and Andrew, Winston, and Eli Tatum.
Mrs. Tatum was fiercely devoted to her family and a loyal friend to the many who loved her. She generously invested her talents to support causes she cared about. She was a member of the Board of Directors at the inception of Big Oak Ranch in Gadsden, Alabama, served in several capacities with the North Alabama affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, and participated in many congregational and benevolence projects at Canterbury.
The grace and courage which Mrs. Tatum displayed in her valiant battle against cancer was an encouragement to her many friends.
Our family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Jimmie Harvey and the many angels of mercy who work with him for their years of efforts on her behalf, as well as Comfort Care Hospice who has shared this difficult road with strength and compassion.
Visitation will be in the Parlor at Canterbury Methodist at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 11, 2016, with the memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Big Oak Ranch, www.bigoak.org.
