

BURKE, MALINDA JONES, age 68, of Alabaster, Alabama, passed away Monday morning, November 19, 2012. She was raised in Birmingham, Alabama and graduated from Ramsay High School in 1962. Malinda was a long-time member of the Valley Junior Women's Club, in which her leadership roles included president, and the Alabama Federation of Women's Clubs. For many years, she was very active in the Cahaba Heights Athletic Association. Next to serving her family and community, her passions were Crimson Tide football and caring for all kinds of animals. Malinda was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Anderson Burke, Sr., and her mother, Pauline Jones. Survivors include Malinda's son, Cecil Anderson "Andy" Burke, Jr., and his wife Virginia Ann; one daughter, Marlene Curren; three grandchildren, Steve Stewart (Debra), Chris Stewart (Christy), and Cindy Stewart; two great-grandchildren, Whitney Stewart and Stacy Stewart (Kevin); great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Carolyn Whalen (Tony) and Linda Latta (Carl). Visitation will be one hour before the 11 a.m. funeral service on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 in the chapel of Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama.
