Marcelline Saffran Poole
October 16, 1932 – February 2, 2019

Marcelline Charlotte Saffran Poole, 86, of Helena, Alabama, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019.
“Marcie” was born on October 16, 1932 in Baltimore, Maryland to Andrew and Catherine Saffran. She married James Clifford Poole Jr., her husband of 62 years, and they moved to Alabama and had five children, 13 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, with two more due this year.
Marcie loved spending time with her family and pulling for the Auburn Tigers. Her love knew no bounds. She will be remembered by us as the Matriarch of “our crazy family.”
Marcie was predeceased by her parents; one daughter, Sarah Catherine P. Swimelar (Jim); one sister, Joan Kirstukas (Kris); and one brother, Andrew Saffran (Patricia).
Survivors include Marcie’s husband, Jim Poole; one daughter, Deborah P. McCorkle; three sons, James Clifford Poole III (Cheri), Michael Andrew Poole (Vanessa), and Joseph Patrick Poole (Amanda); grandchildren, Melissa Whitfield (Andrew), Ashleigh Endicott (Jeff), James Poole, Kevin Swimelar (Brittany), Matthew Palmier (Cynthia), Daniel McCorkle, Jessica Fitzgerald (Ben), Brian Swimelar, Katie Swimelar, Sara Poole, Max Poole, Alex Poole, and Joseph Poole; great-grandchildren, Caleb Whitfield, Eli Whitfield, Zachary Whitfield, Annabelle Endicott, and Adleigh Endicott; and three sisters, Phyllis Mrozinski (Robert), Patricia Quigley (Neal), and Mary Bogott (Jon).
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at the church located at 4600 Preserve Parkway in Hoover, Alabama. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, Alabama. Father John Fallon will officiate.
