Margaret grew up in the village of Old Kilpatrick (Dumbarton, Scotland) and attended St. Patrick's Primary School, Notre Dame High School, and Jordanhill Teacher Training College. She and her husband John first met in July 1961 in St. Andrews while their families were on summer holiday. They married in St. Ninian's (Knightswood, Glasgow) in September 1965 and subsequently emigrated to the United States to begin their American adventure.
Margaret prioritized Catholic values and education for her children and grandchildren. Her faith was core to her mission: devotion to family and the Church, and helping others with a servant’s heart. She was a generous, graceful, and resourceful wife, mother, teacher, artist, and gardener.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John; children, Mark (Lisa), Siobhan, Sean (Ramona), Paul (Michele), and Christian (Jennifer); grandchildren, Mark Lee, Shane, Shanley, Graeme, and Sawyer; and brother, Paul.
Margaret will be remembered as devoted wife, loving mother, and sincere friend. She is forever loved and dearly missed.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Birmingham, Alabama on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 11 a.m.
