Marquita Marie Sebastian, 64, of the Inverness community of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away Friday, August 19, 2011 at her home. From Sarasota, Florida, she relocated to the Birmingham area to open and become the first cosmetics manager at the Saks Fifth Avenue store in The Summit. She was a member of First Christian Church, Birmingham. Marquita was preceded in death by her parents, June and Albert Sebastian; and a sister, Denise Iwashko. Survivors include Marquita's uncle, Lee Hewitt of Hartford City, Indiana; goddaughter, Jessica Gomes; godson, Mark Strong; and three cats, Harley, Andy, and Miss Kitty. The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at First Christian Church, 4954 Valleydale Road, Birmingham, AL 35242, with Rev. Mary Pat Spencer officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church's columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to First Christian Church.
