He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Silver and Marshall Davidson Lacey; and his daughter, Tricia Lacey Hyde.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Colley Lacey; his children, Marshall Davidson “David” Lacey, III (Wendy) and Elizabeth Lacey King (Tommy); his two step-sons, Jeffrey Havercroft and Phillip Havercroft; his son-in-law, Larry Hyde; and his nine grandchildren, William, Isabell, Walker, Patrick, Max, Anna, Natalie, Lacey, and Knox, all who affectionately referred to him as “Peeps.”
Dick was a native of Birmingham and a graduate of Phillips High School. He joined the U.S. Marines after graduating from Phillips. When his Marine commitment was completed, he joined the Alabama Air National Guard and was a full-time member of the 117th Air Refueling Wing. He retired as Senior Master Sergeant in 2007 with over 30 years of service.
Dick will forever be remembered for his fiery spirit, his ability to make you laugh or to make you furious, and his devotion to his wife, his family, and his country.
A Memorial Service will be Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124. During the Memorial Service, family and friends will be asked to share their fondest memories of Dick in celebration of his life. Please join the family at a reception at the funeral home in Pelham immediately following the Memorial Service for a toast in Dick’s honor.
