Martha was the daughter of Mary and Dolen Lindsey and will be lovingly remembered by her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. While she never sought out traditional career titles, her life’s work was her family, her home, and her community—roles she fulfilled with incredible pride, creativity, and boundless energy. As a devoted homemaker, she turned everyday family life into an art form while raising her three children. She was the ultimate team mom, always in the stands, organizing Little League events, and bringing enthusiasm and energy to every season.
Her gift for bringing people together extended far beyond her home. Whether she was planning unforgettable celebrations or organizing the annual girls’ trip for her beloved Garden Club, Martha poured joy into every detail. She truly never met a stranger; to know her was to be greeted with a radiant smile and a warm “sweetie.” Her generous spirit, love of celebration, and ability to make others feel welcome created lasting memories for all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy defined by laughter, deep connection, and a community made brighter by her presence.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Dolen and Mary Lindsey; her sister-in-law, LaRree Gonnering; and her nephew, Bennie Watson.
Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband, Larry Byrd; her children, Bubba (Jennifer), Amy (Scott), and Rick (Jeana); and her grandchildren, Robert, Lawren, Lance, Dillon, Alexia, Emma, Brooks, Griffin; her great-grandchildren, Marshall, and Rhiannon. She is also survived by her siblings, Lou (Bev), Barb, and Mary (Sam), along with countless cousins, nieces, and nephews who will continue to hold her memory close to their hearts.
Martha’s passing leaves a void in the lives of those who loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she gave, the laughter she shared, and the countless memories she created will live on through her family, friends, and the community she cherished.
