

Mary Jym (Taylor) Cutts, passed away on January 27, 2019, at the age of 91. She is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, John L. Cutts, Sr.; father, Sterling Grady Taylor; mother, Lilly Etta (Adams) Taylor; and three sisters, Evelyn Clark, Hazel Roughton and Betty Sellers.
She is survived by 2 children; son, John L Cutts Jr. (Patricia) and daughter, Faye Cutts Hayes; 5 grandchildren, Shannon Rae Marlow (Ken) of Alabaster, AL, John David Cutts (Katie) of Katy, TX, Kimberly Cutts Hall (Jamie) of Sun, LA, David Van Hayes (Elizabeth) of Atlanta, GA; and step- grandson, Michael Van Hayes of Pelham, AL; 11 great-grandchildren, Nathan and Jack Marlow of Alabaster, AL, Alyssa and Jackson Cutts of Katy, TX, Brooklyn, Londyn and Paxton Hall of Sun, LA, George and Henry Hayes of Atlanta, GA, step-great-grandsons, Joseph and Andrew Hayes of Helena, AL and her brother-in-law, William J Cutts of Mobile.
In 1945, Mary Jym and John L married while he was in the Navy during WWII. After his discharge, they moved back to Eufaula, AL to start their family. Their two children were born shortly thereafter. Mary Jym was a very devoted wife, mother and a meticulous home maker. While caring for her family, Mary Jym became a very talented, self-taught seamstress, interior designer and accountant. Later, after the children were grown, she worked in the accounting field, retiring at the age of 70, only to work another 10 years part time.
In 1990, she and John L built their dream home on Lay Lake. During retirement, they enjoyed traveling the country in their RV and loved entertaining friends and family at their lake home. After 15 years on Lay Lake, they moved to the Alabaster-Birmingham area to be closer to family.
A small grave side service was held at Southern Heritage Cemetery on January 31, 2019.
