Mary Lynn (Goodloe) Dyle

Mary Lynn (Goodloe) Dyle, age 88, of Verbena, Alabama, formerly of Chelsea and Midfield, passed away on March 5, 2022. She was born in Fairfield Highlands, on September 5, 1933 to J. Maurice and Elsie Craig Goodloe. She graduated from Hueytown High School in 1951. She worked at South Central Bell, the Midfield School System as bookkeeper and registrar at Rutledge Elementary and retired from the Shelby County Board of Education after serving as bookkeeper and registrar at Pelham High School for nearly 20 years. She was an active member of Verbena United Methodist Church.

Mary Lynn was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Reese; her parents; her brother, John Harry Goodloe; grandson, Kevin Lee Huggins. She is survived by daughters, Donna Nivens (Randy) and Deborah Norwood; her son, Mark Dyle (Christy); sister, Nancy Goodloe Shannon; 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted by Jody Hill, minister at VUMC, on Wednesday, March 9, 2022. Visitation will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham from 12 noon until 2 pm with a graveside service following immediately. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Shelby County Special Olympics, an organization Mary Lynn strongly supported in honor of her granddaughter.
