She was born on October 29, 1927 to the late Laney and Mary Ella Galloway McReynolds. Her husband, Eason Maddox; and her two brothers, L.W. McReynolds and Billy McReynolds, also precede Mary in death. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Jimmy (Susan) Maddox; two grandchildren, Abbi Maddox (Jonathan) Rachels and Abe (Thuvan) Maddox; two great-grandchildren, Whit Rachels and West Rachels; nephew, Rick (Kathy) McReynolds; and nieces, Terri (Randy) Duke, Brenda (Pat) Erwin, Jane Robinson, and Joan Cleckler.

Mary, also known as “Meme” was a kind person to everyone, a true saint of the Lord. Her family felt so blessed to spend time with her, making memories, and soaking up her amazing wisdom and advice. Meme taught her family to be true followers of Christ and to serve Him and love His people. She lead by example and was a mighty prayer warrior.

Mary was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Alabaster and taught first graders in Sunday school for over 50 years, where she was an inspiration to generations of children and their families. Although her family and friends will miss her terribly, they take comfort in knowing that Mary was a witness for Christ every day of her life and lived for Christ up until she took her last breath and joined Him in heaven. There will be private graveside services at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations in Mary’s name to the “Bridge to the Future” fund at First Baptist Church of Alabaster.

So many to choose from!

I believe my favorite was when I was around 5 years old and wanted to play tag with Meme. I figured I'll catch her easily and run away no problem. Well much to my surprise she was fast! Not only that, she was wearing heels! She toasted me, it was hilarious.

I am forever grateful for Mary and Eason and the rest of the Maddox family. Thank you for sharing MeMe with me and my family. We love you guys!

Aaron
