Mary W. Norris, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away July 2, 2020. She was born November 3, 1923 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Norris; first husband Joe T. Livingston; parents, John and Viola Weaver and daughter Jo L. Hill.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynn L. Cox; granddaughter, Stacie A. Mullins (Sean Mullins); 2 great-grandchildren, Gracelyn and Gavyn Noss and granddaughter, Tara E. Hill. She retired from bell South in 1985, after 35 years and then spent most of time traveling from Birmingham to Florida. She loved being in Florida.
Gigi lived her life as an example, a legacy for me, and one the family will strive to live on. She dreamt and she slept. She worked and she rested. She forgave and forgot and most importantly she loved. Gigi loved to love. Whether it was telling stories or buying special gifts for Gavyn or her grandchildren, or saving plastic utensils (used or unused), or completing laborious yard work, or waking up at 10 am on Sundays to watch Joel Osteen, she did it out love. She told stories in hopes that they could be relived one day and loved the life God had created for her and her family. She always bought her grandchildren food because she wanted to spoil her favorites, as she always did. She saved plastic utensils and literally everything else in efforts to satisfy her grandchildren's demand for such object. She picked up the smallest twigs and broken pinecones in pursuit of a "good looking" yard, one she could enjoy looking at while eating her donut. Gigi always made an effort to attend Camp Branch UMC or to wake up at 10 am on Sundays and watch church on tv. That was her thing.
May we all live her legacy with such a love.
We love you, Gigi.
We would also like to thank Southern Care New Beacon Hospice for all their care and our nurse Andrea Barclay, they were all wonderful.
