Mary Lacey Gilmore Novak, 97, died August 10, 2020. Born in Birmingham, Alabama to Frank and Jettie Lacey and was a lifelong resident of Birmingham. She graduated from Woodlawn High School and worked for the U.S. Labor Department for over thirty years in her career. She loved her church and was a member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert C. Gilmore, Sr. and later remarried to Walter K. Novak until his passing.
She is survived by her sons Robert C. Gilmore Jr., (Dian), Richard O. Gilmore (Kathy) and David Michael Gilmore, grandchildren Adrienne Stephens (Bart), Lauren Yilmaz (Mehmet), Deidre Lott (Kevin), Erin Russo (Michael), Richard Charles Gilmore, Clark C. Gilmore and great grandchildren Jackson and Emily Lott. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and friend. Due to COVID-19 concerns, a graveside service will be held Thursday August 13, 2020 at 11:00 am at Southern Heritage Cemetery. Social distancing and masks are required.
