Mary Ann enjoyed her bridge club, was a member of Green Valley Country Club, Hoover Horizons, the Red Hat Club, and had been an active member of Green Valley Baptist Church. She retired from Protective Life Insurance in 1986.
She left to her four daughters a legacy of love and commitment to family. Serving in PTOs and often as room mother, Mary Ann actively supported all her daughters in their many sports and other activities, still finding time for her close circle of friends and her favorite pastimes, fishing, bridge, and travel. Her life was one well-lived in service of others, and her magnetic personality easily made friends of strangers.
Mary Ann died peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
She was predeceased by her parents, Bessie Mae and Julius Eugene Thompson, by her beloved husband, Charles Donald Pierce, her brother, Jay Thompson, daughter, Donna Pierce Crittenden, and her son-in-law, Mark Carroll.
