Mary S Self

Self, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Swygert passed away on May 9, 2011 at the age of 90. She was a loving wife, mother, and wonderful grandmother, and early in her life a caring school teacher. She was preceded in death by her father, Louie Zeno Swygert, Sr., her mother, Clara Maude Hardy, her husband, Cecil B. Self, her brother Louie Z Swygert Jr. and her sister, Louise S. Smith.

She is survived by her son, Dennis Ryan Self, her daughter-in-law, Terry Burchfield Self (whom she considered to be her daughter), her grandson, David Ryan Self, all of Auburn, Alabama, her brother, S. O. Swygert of Columbus, Georgia, a number of nephews and nieces, and friends from the many years she lived in Enterprise, Mississippi, where she and her husband were long time members of the Enterprise Methodist Church, and Hoover, Alabama, where she and he were long time members of the Hoover First Methodist Church. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am preceded by visitation from 10:00am to 11:00am on May 12, 2011 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, with burial in Southern Heritage Cemetery. The family wishes to take time to say a special thank you for the loving care that the staff at Ashton Gables provided “Ms. Mary” during the time she lived there.
