"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." In keeping with this truth Mary Sue Vogelgesang Smith loved the Lord Jesus Christ; stepped into His glorious presence and loving arms on Sunday, the 3rd of March, 2024. She left on this earth her devoted husband, William Chenault Smith, Jr., her loving sister, Ann V. Relfe, her niece Mary Margaret Relfe, her sister-in-law Olivia Smith Beneke, her nephew, Chris Beneke and very close cousin, Meredith Mathis along with many other cousins.
Mary Sue lived her early years in Mobile, Alabama. She attended Murphy High School there and then went on the University of Alabama. Mary Sue gave her heart to Jesus Christ as her Lord and her love and
devotion to Jesus Christ, and her absolute willingness to be His light brought rivers of waters of sunshine and warmth to those she embraced. The love of Jesus Christ transformed Mary Sue into a beautiful woman inside and out. She was abundantly blessed by her friends who loved her and ministered to her
over the past years and especially in supporting her during her illness with their cards, phone calls, texts, meals and visits. Mary Sue so wanted to stay here with all her friends, however, "To live is Christ to die is gain."
Memorial gifts may be given in memory of Mary sue to GlobeWorks International Ministries (Alabama Division) P.O. Box 661435 Birmingham, AL 35266 or Evangelism Explosion P.O. Box 753 Arden, NC 28704.
