

She was born and grew up in Clarksdale, Mississippi, the oldest daughter of Dr. James Frank Kilpatrick and Mary Morrill Allen Kilpatrick. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Joseph (“Joby”) Abbott Walker, Sr. She is survived by son Joseph (“Jay”) A. Walker, Jr. (Alice), daughter Elizabeth Walker Gunnells, son Carl Kilpatrick Walker (Becky), and daughter Frances Walker Long (Mark); 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and her sister, Frances Kilpatrick Gardner.
After marriage, Mary Beth lived in Anniston, AL, for 57 years before moving to Birmingham in 2011. She was a founding member of Faith Presbyterian Church, Anniston, then transferred to Faith Presbyterian Church, Birmingham.
Mary Beth belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Huguenot Society of South Carolina, and the Order of the Crown. She assisted Joby in the establishment of both The Donoho School and Faith Christian School. She was also instrumental in the founding of Hope Family Services (Sav-a-Life).
Services will be held Saturday, May 30, at 2 p.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church, Birmingham. A reception at the church will follow.
