Mary Jo Williams

Mary Jo Williams, age 93, of Birmingham, Alabama and formerly of Jackson, Tennessee, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Thursday, January 17, 2019 by her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born in 1925 to Barge and Mary Lula Smith of Conway, Arkansas.

Mary Jo leaves behind her son, Rossy Williams (Elizabeth) of Fayetteville, Tennessee; one daughter, Sally Whitright (Brian) of Birmingham; and four grandchildren, Mary Jane George, Blair Mann, Ashley Cartledge, and Ben Whitright. Survivors also include Mary Jo's six great-grandchildren, Drake and Owen George; Clara, Laurel, and Wayne Mann; and Sally Cartledge.

Mary Jo was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Jackson, Tennessee and a member of the Dick Nunn Sunday School class. The majority of her professional career was spent at Lambuth College, which was dear to her heart.

A graveside celebration of Mary Jo's life will be held at a later date at Ridgecrest Cemetery in Jackson, Tennessee. Pallbearers will be her grandson, Ben Whitright, and her grandsons-in-law, Bobby George, Heath Mann, and Cosby Cartledge.
