Matthew Sean Harfield, 30, of Brooklyn, New York, (formerly of Hoover, Alabama) passed away December 22, 2014. He was born in Panama City, Florida on April 12, 1984.
Matthew graduated from Hoover High School and earned his college degree from Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia, in Film and Television. He graduated in 2006 with honors.
Matthew was a kind, gentle, and free-spirited soul. He chased his dreams and lived his life to the fullest everyday. He packed so very much in his short thirty years. He was a friend to many and was always there for them when they needed him. His family and friends loved him dearly.
Matthew was born with aortic stenosis, which was monitored throughout his life. It was his heart that gave out on him at such a young age.
He is survived by his mother Kelli Montali (Mike) and father Michael Harfield (Sarah), brothers John Harfield and Ryan Harfield (Genevieve), grandmother Frances Burgess, step-sister Weldon Birdwell (Brad), aunts Julie Gunn and Cristina Kochevar, and step-nephew Cooper Birdwell. His late grandparents were James Ralph Burgess and Margaret Gunn.
Visitation and viewing will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama.
A celebration of Matthew’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Rojo, 2921 Highland Ave S. in Birmingham, Alabama.
