Michael "Pat" O’Connor aged 88, passed away peacefully at home on September 9, 2024. He was born on August 25, 1936, in New Orleans, LA, to Michael and Elizabeth O'Connor. He resided in Alabaster, AL, and was a 1955 graduate of Fortier High School. Pat serviced in the United States Air Force from 1955-1959. He married Carol Ann Thornton on January 2, 1958, in New Orleans, LA. Pat worked in the telecommunications industry for many years at AT&T. He dedicated his life to his family and found joy in helping his loved ones.
Pat is survived by his wife, Carol; his four children, Patricia (Tim), Michael (Michelle), Maureen (Scott), and Carolyn. He was blessed with nine grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to reminisce and honor the life of Michael "Pat" O'Connor during the ceremony at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Rd, Pelham, AL 35124, Visitation at 11:00 am and Service at 12:00 pm on September 13, 2024. The burial will follow at Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Hwy 119, Montevallo, AL 35115.
In Lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
