Mildred McDonald Blue, wife of C.R. Blue, died Thursday, October 17,2013 at the age of 92, lovingly embraced by her husband and family. Born here in Birmingham in October 1921, her parents were Alene Mize McDonald and Harold McDonald. She had two siblings (both now deceased), James and Frances. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Rudy, a WWII Navy veteran, who is also 92 and currently a resident of Galleria Woods; daughters, Dale B. Hansel (wife of The Rev. Dr. Robert R. Hansel) of North Carolina and Lee Blue Randall (wife of Steven Randall) of Alabaster; and grandchildren, David Self of Alaska, Stephen Self of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Mackenzie Dabbs and Lindsay Randall of Alabaster. Mildred was a long-time member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church and, more recently, of Mountain Chapel UMC. A graveside memorial service and interment is set for 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 21, 2013 at Forest Hills Cemetery, Woodlawn, where friends may greet the deceased's family. The Rev. Tom Parrish will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please make donations either to VITAS Hospice or to Mountain Chapel Church.
