She received her formative education in the Sumter County Schools in Livingston, Alabama, where she excelled academically and began to cultivate the determination, discipline, and resilience that would define her adult life. After graduating in 1990, she continued her studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, proudly earning a degree in Sociology with a minor in English in 1995. Driven by her passion for justice and a desire to uplift others, Morliza went on to complete her Juris Doctorate at Miles College School of Law in Fairfield, Alabama, followed by a Master of Law degree.
Morliza accepted Christ at an early age at Pine Top Baptist Church, where her faith was rooted and nurtured. Upon moving to Birmingham, she became a member of Sixth Avenue Baptist Church.
Professionally, Morliza began her career with United Parcel Service before joining Alabama Disability Determination Services, where she faithfully served for more than 28 years. Her strong work ethic, natural leadership, and unwavering professionalism led to her advancement to the Administrative Level. Colleagues admired her for her kindness, her steady presence, and her ability to approach every responsibility with excellence.
Outside of her career, Morliza embraced life with joy, curiosity, and gratitude. She loved shopping, listening to audiobooks, taking long hot baths, and watching Sci-Fi movies. In recent years, she discovered a passion for international travel—experiences that broadened her world and filled her with excitement. She especially cherished her trips to London and, most recently, Milan, Italy, shared with her family and her best friend, Erica. One of her greatest joys was participating in her monthly book club, a treasured time of fellowship with family and friends, filled with conversation, laughter, and love.
In the spring of 1993, Morliza became a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated—a sisterhood that remained dear to her heart for the rest of her life. She later joined the Jefferson County Alumnae Chapter, where she continued to exemplify the values of scholarship, service, and sisterhood. She also held membership in the Alabama State Bar Association and was a certified Notary Public.
On November 19, 2025, Morliza departed this earthly life at her home. She is preceded in death by her father, Walter Bizzell; her loving maternal grandparents, Joe and Willie Mae Russell; and her paternal grandparents, Joe and Catherine Bizzell.
Left to cherish her beautiful memory is her pride and joy, her son, Cory Hill Jr., of Birmingham, Alabama; her devoted mother, Dorothy Bizzell, of Livingston, Alabama; and her siblings: Vincent Hodge (Ruth) of Kalamazoo, Michigan; Victoria Russell of Canton, Ohio; and Veronica (Jermaine) Thomas of McCalla, Alabama. She also leaves behind two nephews, Jon Tyler Sharp and Ashton Thomas; four nieces, Allison Sharp, Brooke Thomas, Lauren Thomas, and Olivia Hodge; a host of aunts, uncles, a large circle of cousins, extended family, sorority sisters, colleagues, and friends whose lives were deeply touched by her kindness, strength, and love. She also leaves her beloved dog, Zeus.
Though her earthly journey has ended, the legacy of Morliza Ann Bizzell—her faith, compassion, dedication, and radiant spirit—will live on forever in the hearts of all who loved her.
A Delta Sigma Theta, Omega Omega Ceremony will begin at 10:00 am CST (open to the public) followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am.
