N. Marc Stevens, 67, passed away on January 7th, 2021 from the COVID-19 Virus. Marc (Norm) was not just a number added to the many deaths from COVID-19, to his family and friends he was an amazing man; loyal, honest, kind, caring and touched everyone he met with humanity.

Marc (Norm) was born August 17th, 1953 in New Bern, North Carolina at the U.S. Military Base to his father Sidney Stevens and his mother Thea Stevens. The family moved to New York and lived there until 1969, then moved to Hollywood, Florida where he attended high school and played football as a wide receiver (following in his father’s footsteps as a wide receiver). Marc graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida.

Marc (Norm) spent the past 25 years living in Birmingham, Alabama, where he met his wife and soulmate, Debbie Lovoy. During this time, Marc and Debbie built a life around family, friends and their community of Helena, Alabama.

Marc (Norm) had a love for his family and his two best friends of 50 years, Doug and Mark. His favorite past-time was enjoying sports, a hobby he shared with his father. He was especially passionate about football and his loyalty was to the Miami Dolphins. Marc (Norm) was a foodie, he loved to both eat and cook. He had a strong love for pets, but his dogs stole his heart.

Mark (Norm) is survived by his wife Debbie Lovoy Stevens, his mother Thea Stevens, two sisters Jodi Izadi and Lisa Stevens, his brother-in-law Charlie Izadi, nephews Stefan (Michelle), Seth and Jeremy Izadi; great nephews Jacob and Joshua, and by his extended family, children and grandchildren (Anthony Lovoy, Jilian and Jaxon Joyner) connected to him through his marriage to Debbie.

Marc will be laid to rest on Wednesday, January 13 at 10:00 am. Private services will be held at the Cumberland Cemetery (Helena City Cemetery) in Helena, Alabama. The family asks that those who wish to participate join the Facebook Live link provided by Southern Heritage Funeral Home. Although I only had the opportunity to meet Norman on a few occasions during the past decade or so during family gatherings here in Florida, he was always genuinely warm, kind and considerate. I wish I had been able to get to know him better as he was clearly a wonderful person who touched so many others in a positive way. I'll keep him in my prayers and all the very best to Thea, Jodi and Lisa in this difficult time.

Best wishes,

Mel

I am Jaime Normans Sister’s long time friend for over 43yrs. I just wanted to share how I remember Norm from when I moved to Dallas when i was about 20 and he was living there at the same time and I got very sick with Bronchitis and not really knowing me that well invited me into his home and took care of me for over 2 weeks . This is the kind of man he was .Kind, Generous ,Loving.
I will always hold a special place in my heart for him.

Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment... until it becomes a memory...
Family, friend, brotherhood..... Reflecting back on 50 years of moments that now become memories I have tattooed on my heart, soul and mind has brought a tsunami of emotions.... one memory leads to another... and another... one emotion leads to another, and another until my heart and mind is full past capacity.
I do know this, although I am profoundly saddened by his passing and have unspeakable sorrow for Thea, Lisa and Jodie and all who loved him... I know this.... I'll wipe away my tears today with a smile because I have those crazy, beautiful, epic memories... always.
