She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on October 30, 1931, to the late William R. Bryant and Annie Laura Tilley Bryant. Nancy attended Eagan Elementary and Phillips High School and had many friends growing up in ACIPCO. She worked at several places including Coca-Cola Bottling, Hart-Greer, Inc., and Federal Credit Union. She was a long-time Atlanta Braves fan and Auburn University fan. She loved Panama City Beach and had a family house there for over 30 years. Nancy was a member of the Precious Memory Group and hosted various luncheons during the holidays.
Nancy lived her life on her own terms. She raised a family and provided for them over the years. She was always her own person that did what she thought was right and was the epitome of a true Southern lady and mother. Fiercely independent, loving, and outspoken, she accepted and adopted many into her family circle. She lived for holiday celebrations, hosting all who could come.
Nancy is preceded in death by two husbands, William B Burbage, Sr. and George Elliott; her long-time companion, Thomas M. Nance; her siblings, Margaret Bryant Welch (Bill Welch), Christine Bryant Massengill (Edward Massengill), and Ward Bryant (Mable Bryant); and her nephew, Wesley Massengill.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, William B. “Butch” Burbage, Jr. and Nannette “Nan” Burbage Sadler; her grandchildren, Katherine “Kasey” Couch Burbage, Courtney Michelle Burbage Long (Tim), Brandon Doyle Sadler, and Carly Gagliano Sadler along with Doyle Sadler, Jr. Family members, Lee Anna Welch Reeder, Ward T. Bryant, Jr., Susan Bryant, Becky Bryant, Tena Bryant, Cheri Blackman Swan, Bryant Reeder, Allan Reeder, Christy Reeder, Wendy Massengill, Cindy Massengill Garrett, Jim Blackman, and Pete Blackman also survive her.
A Celebration of Nancy’s Life will be held at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm.
