

Nancy G. Heilig, 96, died on October 20, 2021. She was originally from Salisbury, North Carolina, where she was raised by her parents, Edgar and Allie Griffin. On September 25,1943, she married Joseph N. "Joe" Heilig, Jr., also of Salisbury, who predeceased her in 1999.
Nancy was a homemaker and preschool teacher who created a home for the family for 55 years wherever Joe's Naval and VA careers and retirement took them. She was a member of Raleigh Avenue Baptist Church and the Shelby West Camp of The Gideons. She enjoyed sewing, needlework, and reading.
Nancy had a servant heart and was a good listener. She faithfully prayed for her family and friends.
Nancy is survived by her three children, Loretta Cronier (Tom), Paula Heilig, and Joe Heilig, III (Anne); four grandchildren, Karen C. Alexandris (Steve), Susan Cronier, Bryant Heilig (Paige), and Tyler Heilig (Callie); and five great-grandchildren, Reese and Grayson Alexandris, Jenson and Caroline Heilig, and Thomas Heilig.
The family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama, immediately followed by A Service of Remembrance for Nancy at 11 a.m. at the funeral home's chapel. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Nancy Heilig's memory to The Gideons International, Shelby West Camp, P.O. Box 832, Alabaster, AL 35007.
