Flack, Norman David, age 48 passed away on June 11th, 2013 after a lifelong battle with a genetic heart disease. He grew up in Hueytown, but was presently living in Alabaster. Mr. Flack spent his working years as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic, most recently at Chemical Lime in Montevallo. He spent his younger years racing dirt bikes all over the southeast; he rode only on a Honda 250 and would only wear a number 1. He loved history of all kinds, exploring old mines and taking long trips out in the woods to metal detect (always looking for treasure). He was an excellent artist and left funny, almost inappropriate drawings wherever he went. He most of all loved his wife Sheryl; this was year 27 for them, and his two children Lauren and Marybeth. He also had another child named Bindi, who was his dog and constant companion. Wherever you saw Norman, you would see her too. He loved working with his hands and rocking out to bands like The Doors .He was known for being an 'endless book of knowledge' with a special ability to make anyone laugh. Always a hard worker and perfectionist till the end. He is survived by his sister Eva Gay Herr of Atlanta, GA and her children Zach, Jessica and Derrick. He was welcomed into heaven by his father, Norman Gay Flack and mother, Evelyn Lucille Flack. The world lost a great man; he is loved and will be deeply missed. I carry your heart with me I carry it in my heart I am never without it anywhere I go you go, my dear; and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling I fear no fate for you are my fate, my sweet I want no world for beautiful you are my world, my true and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you. Services will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Montevallo, on Saturday June 15th at 1:30 PM visitation and 2:00 PM mass service. A special thanks to Doug and Becky Glasscock for their endless support, the Montevallo paramedics that worked tirelessly to save his life, to the Shelby County Sheriff's office for sending such a compassionate officer to aide Mrs. Flack and the amazing doctors at UAB such as Dr. Ami Iskandrian and his nurse Chris, and Dr. David McGiffin who has cared for Mr. Flack many years and helped to prolong his life.
