Pamela "Pam" Miller Franklin entered the gates of Heaven on Thursday, March 29, 2018 after battling Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) and Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS). She is preceded in death by her parents, Silas Monroe and Louise Hale Miller.
Pam is survived by her husband of 38 years, Ray H. Franklin, Jr.; two children, Jennifer and Josh Franklin; two brothers, Randy (Robin) Miller and Bob (Lynn) Miller; two sisters, Nancy (Larry) Williams and Susan (Bradley) Thaxton; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Pam began her employment with Hoover (Alabama) City Schools in 1995 as a lunchroom worker at Green Valley Elementary and eventually worked her way up to Lunchroom Manager and in 2006 to the Hoover School Board as a CNP Secretary.
In 2001, Pam was named Hoover’s Employee of the Year, and in 2006 was awarded The Finley Award. She was affectionately known to students as “Miss Pam” and by many parents, friends, and other acquaintances as “The Cake Lady,” from a gift and hobby she had of making birthday and wedding cakes for many friends and family. She will always be remembered for her compassion for students, co-workers, friends, and family.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2018 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama, immediately followed by A Celebration of Pam's Life at 1 p.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage Chapel, Pelham. Burial will be at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East in Trussville, Alabama.
