Patricia Dale Burke

January 31, 1944 – May 9, 2018

Patricia Dale Brown Burke, 74 of Wetumpka, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018. Patricia was born in Memphis, TN and raised in Birmingham, AL. A graduate of Shades Valley High School and the University of Alabama School of Nursing, she was a devoted wife to Charles Wayne Burke for 53 years. She practiced Public Health in Central Alabama and owned Heirloom Hemstitch, a fine heirloom sewing store in Montgomery for over 30 years until her retirement. A beloved mother, and “Abbey” to her grandchildren, she was an avid gardener and birder committed to the beauty of nature.

Mrs. Burke is preceded in death by her parents, Robert J. Brown and Anna L. Brown; and brother, Robert J. Brown, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband, Charles Wayne Burke; son, Charles Forrest Burke (Michelle); daughter, Mericatherine Elizabeth Hannon (Jake); and grandchildren, Hannah, Hayden, Evan, Sara, and Emily Burke, August Henson, and Maya and Atticus Hannon.

A celebration of Patricia’s life is to be scheduled in late summer. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
